VIENNA, VA (June 2010) — In June 2010, Lani Hay, President and CEO of Lanmark Technology (LMT), Inc., joined Business Executives for National Security's Washington, DC Metro Leadership Committee and elite Presidents Club. Business Executives for National Security (BENS) is a national non-profit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to enhancing the nation's security.
Hay has been a member of BENS since launching LMT in 2003. As a member of the Washington, DC Metro Leadership Committee, Hay will formulate and execute BENS programming in the Washington, DC metro region, which include shaping responsible national security programs. Furthermore, as a member of BENS Presidents Club Hay joins leaders and strategic thinkers from the nation's top organizations to provide expertise and strategic advice to the country's agencies and governmental leaders-ultimately leading to better programs, more efficient government and less spending, while simultaneously improving national security efficiency and protection. As a member of the Presidents Club, Hay will be engaged in BENS' initiatives on both a regional and national level.
Secretary of Defense Robert Gates recently said this to BENS members: "BENS has observed – accurately – that America is not going to have the kind of ―efficient and agile‖ military we need for the 21st century without a support structure equally "efficient and agilel" - two words not usually associated with the federal government in general and the Defense Department in particular. In areas like accounting, procurement, privatization, and excess base structure, BENS has identified problems and proposed solutions that have saved the taxpayers billions and made our military a more effective fighting force. And for that I thank you."
BENS' mission is to apply best-business practices to help government leaders implement solutions to the most challenging problems in national security. BENS’ Advisory Council includes Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, Former Secretary of the Treasury Robert Rubin, Former Ambassador to the United Nations Ambassador Thomas Pickering, Former FBI and CIA Director William H. Webster, Former Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Ralston, Former Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Vernon Clark, Former Director of Central Intelligence Gen. Michael V. Hayden, USAF (Ret.), Former Army Chief of Staff Gen. Dennis Reimer, USA (Ret.), and Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Peter Pace, USMC (Ret.).
