October 3, 2011 (Vienna, VA) - Lanmark Technology Inc. President/CEO Lani Hay, joins other top delegates of the 2011 Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit to mentor a group of 35 high school military daughters invited to attend the 2011 Fortune Most Powerful Women Conference in Laguna Niguel, CA.
The goal of the Fortune “Notebook Mentoring” program is to inspire young women as they prepare to head to college and eventually enter the workforce. Fortune Editor at Large and MPW Summit Co-Chair, Pattie Sellers stated, “Fortune magazine has been organizing innovative mentorship programs for young women from around the globe for the last six years. This year’s program brings together the extraordinary skills of the top MPW delegates, the legacy of FORTUNE and Time Inc.’s journalistic roots, and the energy and vitality of young high school women whose parents serve in the U.S. Armed Services.” Mentors included Rosanne Cash, Tyra Banks, Tory Burch, Billie Jean King, Susan Lyne, and Jami Miscik.
FORTUNE's top editors opened “Notebook Mentoring” with a lesson on the Art of the Interview, a discussion of the importance of developing strong questioning skills that can guide these young women through their studies and career. The high school mentees then watched a live interview with top female leaders. The program concluded with connecting the high school women directly with the mentors in the room.
Lanmark Technology Inc. President/CEO Lani Hay stated, "I was honored to serve as a mentor in Fortune’s 2011 mentorship program. The fact that this year’s program focused solely on the daughter of military families was especially meaningful. These young women are so bright and have exciting futures ahead of them. Military families have always been such an important part of the operational readiness of our Armed Forces so it was rewarding to aide in equipping them for their future success.”
